Buttercross Cafe is a straightforward, down-to-earth spot on Rocester’s High Street where locals drop in for a reliable breakfast or a quick lunch. It’s the kind of place that knows its audience—people looking for freshly cooked, no-nonsense meals without fuss. The interior feels like a friendly neighborhood hub rather than a trendy cafe, making it easy to settle in whether you’re grabbing a takeaway or lingering over a coffee.

Mornings here suit those who want a proper start to the day. The cooked breakfast, which comes with choices like beans or tomatoes and bread or toast, is a popular option, especially midweek or weekend mornings when people appreciate a hearty, well-made plate without it costing a fortune. Alongside this, the coffee tends to gather regulars who appreciate a good brew to kick off their day, with staff paying attention to the little details like how you want your bacon cooked.

Lunch offerings include simple but satisfying items such as toasties and loaded fries, leaning on familiar, comforting flavors like BBQ pulled pork, chicken curry, and chilli con carne. For visitors stopping in from work or errands, it’s a place where you can comfortably check a few emails or catch up with friends, thanks to the welcoming vibe and the warm interactions between staff and customers.

While the setting is unpretentious, the service stands out for its warmth and genuine friendliness—regulars often find themselves chatting with the staff, turning visits into more than just meals. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, making Buttercross a practical choice for anyone wanting a laid-back meal or a coffee in the heart of Rocester.

The cafe is busiest in the mornings and around lunchtime, so visiting mid-morning or early afternoon might provide a quieter experience. Whether you’re a local on a break, someone seeking a simple and reasonably priced meal, or a traveler wanting to see everyday town life, Buttercross offers a straightforward, welcoming spot to refuel.

Great no frills cafe. Popped in here at lunchtime and had one of the hot wraps for takeaway. All cooked fresh and great value for money.

Called into this lovely cafe for the first time on Sunday morning. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They offered us a good quality cooked breakfast with either beans or tomatoes and toast or bread. Even asked how we would like our bacon cooked. It was £8.50 including a tea or coffee. Excellent value for money and will definitely return.

The place you need early in the morning. Simple, no frills. Had a good brewed coffee and scrambled egg on toast. Just too bad I couldn’t fully understand the town gossip.

Really pleasant lady’s working here, always very chatty and friendly. I have gone in on my days off just to have a chat and an amazing lunch! Thank you so much for the lovely food and company. Going to miss you when I leave collage as this is my go to place for lunch and I would advise more people to come as it is delicious. I rate this small business a five stars as it’s a really relaxing and comfortable place to be
